I'm starting to look at how to forecast Torö, a wind powered surf break on the outskirts of Stockholm. It was first this summer that I realized I could surf in the Baltics after a friend spoke about it. Having not surfed since Morocco a few years back, I was a bit hesitant at first, but thrilled that I decided to dive headfirst into the sport, especially in the extreme conditions that the Baltics get. It's notoriously difficult to forecast with traditional tools like Surfline, so I decided to start this project to see if I can use other local weather APIs to build my own, more accurate signal of when it's worth taking the drive out. For now, it just aggregates the different sites that are useful to check. My aim is to combine these inputs along with localized adjustments to provide an ideal output and tailored notifications.
